Karachi: Disabled Teacher Allah Bakhsh Basham Forcibly Disappeared by Sindh Rangers
Sindh Rangers raided a house in Tekkri village, Maripur, Karachi, and forcibly disappeared a disabled man, Allah Bakhsh Basham. Allah Bakhsh has been providing free education to children who cannot otherwise afford schooling, through the Tekkri Education Centre.
According to local accounts, the personnel initially released him, but returned about an hour later and took him away again.
The Human Rights Council of Balochistan has called upon the Government of Pakistan to immediately disclose his whereabouts and to produce him before a court of law if there are any allegations against him.
Enforced disappearance is a heinous crime. It has already devastated countless families and communities across Pakistan, causing lasting fear, trauma, and suffering. The authorities must end this practice and uphold the rule of law and fundamental human rights.
